Parting Waters Statement of Faith

The programs and activities governing the form of worship of Parting Waters Church shall be based upon and at all times shall be consistent with the following creed and beliefs.

  1. THE SCRIPTURES. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of men of old who spoke and wrote through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We accept the Bible is the fully inspired and infallible authority in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).

  2. THE GODHEAD. God is One, but manifested in three persons, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Philippians 2:6).

  3. GOD THE FATHER is the only God and the creator of all things, the source and sustainer of all life.

  4. JESUS is the Son of God, one with the Father. He is God in the flesh who lived here for thirty-three years, was crucified, paying the price for all our sins, rose from the dead after three days, and ascended into heaven. (1 John 1:1; John 1:18; John 1:14; John 10:30).

  5. THE HOLY SPIRIT is God. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. As such, He is co-equal with God the Father and with God the Son (John 15:26).

  6. MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION. Man is a created being in the image of God. Through Adam’s transgression, sin came into the world (Romans 5:12; 3:23; 3:9-10; 1 John 3:8; Galatians 3:13-14).  Salvation is the gift of God to everyone, separate from works and the law, and is because of the grace of God by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8).

  7. ETERNAL LIFE AND NEW BIRTH. The term “born again” refers to a new beginning in the relationship between God and the person who is born again. Salvation is through faith by grace in Jesus alone. (John 3:3, 7) God adopts those born again as his children (Romans 8:15, 16; Galatians 4:5; 1 John 3:1).

  8. WATER BAPTISM. Baptism in water is by immersion and is a commandment of Jesus. (Matt 28:19; Romans 6:4; Col 2:12; Acts 8:36-39).

  9. HOLINESS. The Bible teaches that without holiness, none can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation (Hebrews 10:14;1 Thes. 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18; Phil. 3:12-14; 1 Cor 1:30).

  10. HEAVEN AND HELL. We believe the Bible teaches that there is a Hell and a Heaven. Hell is for the unrepentant sinner. Heaven is for those who have repented and believed in Jesus. (Matt 25:46; Rom. 2:6-8; John 3:36).

  11. MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY. The Bible states unequivocally that marriage involves the union of one man and one woman in permanent sacred fidelity. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 1:26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

  12. LIFE. Parting Waters Church believes all human life is precious and must be valued in all forms from the womb to the tomb. All races, ages, and persons are equal and sacred in the eyes of Jesus. All life comes from Jesus and must be respected and protected.  (John 1:3-4, Matthew 18:10, Psalm 82:3-4, Proverbs 31:8-9)

  13. FINAL AUTHORITY: This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
